Abstract
Partial or complete plantar fascia ruptures are rare and typically associated with acute trauma or chronic plantar fascia pathologies. Plantar fascia rupture in athletes without risk factors, such as plantar fasciopathy or corticosteroid injections, are uncommon. A 32-year-old professional football (soccer) player who developed a plantar fascia rupture without a history of acute trauma has been presented. Plantar fascia ruptures should be considered in the differential diagnosis of heel pain, particularly in athletes with intense training and competition schedules.
