Abstract

The purpose of the study is determining reliability and validity of Task and Ego Orientation in Sport Questionnaire (TEOSQ) for secondary school students who are involved in physical education and sports lecture. The research is conducted totally of 695 students: 338 girls and 357 boys from four different secondary schools in three different districts of Izmir. In the scope of scale’s form validity, Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was applied in order to confirm the valid factor structures for the original form. To determine the validity of scale, Cronbach’s Alpha, Spearman-Brown Coefficient and Guttman Split-Half Coefficient scores were analyzed. Test-retest reliability was analyzed over three weeks. According to CFA results, all indices provided good data-test fitting. Task and ego orientation items were sufficient and reliable for all their factors. All findings reveal that the scale is reliable and valid to be used for determining secondary school students’ task and ego orientations.
